How to get what you want

How to get what you want I made a post earlier on how to get people to get you what you want willingly. This is a kind of a continuation, something to build on it.   It so happened that I was trying to get this lady’s phone number but she wouldn’t even give me a little bit of her time.   I have this small book I walk around with, sometimes just to fill in my thoughts or to take a lecture. It’s just a book for random thoughts and ideas.    During a lecture, I got all the notes down while this young lady couldn’t catch up. She turned to me after the class and asked, “Boss, how far? Have you copied all the notes?” Boss was feeling himself. “Yes, I did.” I simply replied. “Can you help me with your book so I can copy it?”  Boss then saw an opportunity. “Not my book, but you can give me your number and I’ll send you the pictures on WhatsApp.” Boss didn’t have to ask again. She gladly gave me the number. I felt like a true boss. Here’s the thing: the lady asked for my...

How to get people to willingly give you what you want

How to get people to willingly give you what you want Getting people to give you what you want could be the most daunting task, more so getting them to give it to you willingly.   But there is a simple hack to achieve this. Stick with me to the end and you’ll see the technique you can apply to smoothen your asking process.   So during camp, I sat beside one fine girl. The type you would think twice before stepping up to ask for their numbers. After the lecture, we all stood up and left without saying a word. When I stood, I noticed a book on the chair she sat and I picked it up.   It was a kind of a privilege to hold the book of a fine lady, but on second thought, she was probably thinking of me all during the lecture so she forgot her book. Long shot, I know, but a guy’s gotta be hopeful.   During the next lecture, it so happened that we sat beside each other once more. It took all the courage I had to approach her and told her about her book.   She exclaimed l...

Who Are You Helping?

Who Are You Helping? The world has gone to a stage where you have no idea who to help, or if they will even appreciate it or end up criticizing and looking down on the help you offer. There was once a man who was fighting a foreigner in his land. The countryman was almost killed when one of his fellow countrymen came and struck down his enemy. You know the story of Moses in the Bible- when he tried to save his fellow Israelite from the hands of the Egyptian. After the help, the man who just got rescued began to boil over and said he didn’t need any help. “Do you want to kill me like you killed the other Egyptian yesterday,” asked the man who had just been saved. I know you are a good person. If not, then you should try to be a good person, but the point is that being good should not land you in trouble as it did in the case of Moses above- he had to flee the land. He became an outcast in a foreign land. When next you offer a helping hand, try to know who you are helping...

The 1 Thing You Need to Overcome Obstacles

THE 1 THING YOU NEED TO OVERCOME DIFFICULT CHALLENGES 1. A few days back I went to see a friend. After catching up, we went into his gym which contained one piece of equipment comprising of cement and a rod. He lied down on the bench and asked me to pass it to him. I tried lifting it off the ground but I couldn’t.  It looked ‘carryable,’ at first, but when I bent down, I could swear I heard my waist bone give way. I spent the night there and I tried lifting it the next morning as I’d gotten enough rest at night. I bent down, and this time, like the last time, I couldn’t lift it. But it gave way a little. On the fourth day, no, I didn’t carry it oo. But it budged. I even lifted it to my ankles. It was massive for me.  After my sixth attempt, I lifted it. Yes, I did. No lies here. I carried it up to my chest before letting it thunder to the ground. 2. I remember when the Ebola virus first hit.  People were so scared of losing their lives and would go to every le...

Redeemed

REDEEMED The Gathering  The man standing before them was almost what you'd call beautiful, with a soldier's build. He was one of those preachers of the Word who were as beautiful as the messages they preached. He was as elegant as a gazelle. His ministry has converted thousands of souls and is still converting more by the day.  The slim man had lived a terrible life, but that was a long time ago. He now bears the smile of one who has been marked for the kingdom. The gathering was scheduled late in the afternoon when the sun was beginning to lose its heat and people could bear walking the distance to the Great Hall as it was called. The hall was made of red bricks and a high ceiling. He got up to speak in the half-filled hall. He bid his time as he turned his head around until he had covered the entire room. His heart surged and performed a back-flip when he saw the raw, hungry look on the faces of the young people who occupied the strong brown wooden pews. His lips...

To my Father

Image
Dad, Words alone cannot begin to put a frame on how I feel so I'm just going to pour it from the heart . This is nothing fancy, but it's a note of heartfelt gratitude . Dad, there is so much to say. Too many emotions to contain, but ultimately, I just wanna say thanks .  Anything less does not cut it and any more may distort the message. I never asked to be born but I've never had a single day when I regret being sired by you. You have been a pillar- my pillar . You've supported me from the ground up. Your encouragement has kept me motoring forward . Your sacrifices have made me who I am today. I know you've not been perfect- only a hypocrite claims perfection. I'm not going to dwell on your shortcomings for we have all fallen short. As much as you are not a hundred percent, there is no one I would love to be a son too. I think I should stop here. A long epistle will come another day. Trust your son on that. You've given me enough freedom to t...

5 WAYS TO REMAIN UNDEFEATED IN LIFE To defeat an enemy in battle, one has to understand the tactics the enemy employs, and then either make their tactics work against them or deploy your counter-attacking measures.  Life, just like war, is survival of the fittest, and you either devour or be devoured. In life, some people succeed and others do not. You have to be intentional about being undefeated.  Build yourself, and learn to absorb or even avoid life’s punches. Keep learning, unlearning, and relearning. Times change; find a way to adapt to stay on your feet. There are several tips you can employ to help you remain undefeated in life, the following are the top five from my perspective: NEVER GIVE UP It is inevitable to face challenges, and some will hit you harder than others. Every day has its challenges, and your attitude towards them will go a long way in determining your chances of either staying on your feet or falling flat on your face.  Just like in a...
