How to get what you want
I made a post earlier on how to get people to get you what you want willingly. This is a kind of a continuation, something to build on it.
It so happened that I was trying to get this lady’s phone number but she wouldn’t even give me a little bit of her time.
I have this small book I walk around with, sometimes just to fill in my thoughts or to take a lecture. It’s just a book for random thoughts and ideas.
During a lecture, I got all the notes down while this young lady couldn’t catch up. She turned to me after the class and asked, “Boss, how far? Have you copied all the notes?”
Boss was feeling himself. “Yes, I did.” I simply replied.
“Can you help me with your book so I can copy it?”
Boss then saw an opportunity. “Not my book, but you can give me your number and I’ll send you the pictures on WhatsApp.”
Boss didn’t have to ask again. She gladly gave me the number. I felt like a true boss.
Here’s the thing: the lady asked for my notes (her need). I fulfilled her need and she gave me what I wanted.
This is a simple business rule and should never be neglected. This will help you get what you want from people: give your customers what they need, and they will be willing to pay your price.
