How to get people to willingly give you what you want

How to get people to willingly give you what you want

Getting people to give you what you want could be the most daunting task, more so getting them to give it to you willingly.

But there is a simple hack to achieve this. Stick with me to the end and you’ll see the technique you can apply to smoothen your asking process.

So during camp, I sat beside one fine girl. The type you would think twice before stepping up to ask for their numbers. After the lecture, we all stood up and left without saying a word. When I stood, I noticed a book on the chair she sat and I picked it up.

It was a kind of a privilege to hold the book of a fine lady, but on second thought, she was probably thinking of me all during the lecture so she forgot her book. Long shot, I know, but a guy’s gotta be hopeful.

During the next lecture, it so happened that we sat beside each other once more. It took all the courage I had to approach her and told her about her book.

She exclaimed loudly and hugged me. She said the book was given to her by her grandma and her private notes were inside. “I hope you didn’t read it?” she asked.

“Nah,” I shook my head. “I just hoped I would see you return it.”

Sometimes things happen and work out for good. If I’d taken the book to the lecture, I wouldn’t have gotten her number. But I didn’t.

So I asked her to give me her number so that I could call her and let her know where and when she could get her book.

She willingly obliged and inputted her number into my phone.

I called her that night and thus began a friendship that is lasting to this day.

Here’s the gist: if you can show people that you have something they need, they would be willing to give you what you ask. It is not less so in business; once your customers know you have something valuable, they would willingly pay any price you ask of them.

Try it and tell me your results.

PS:

The more significant it is to them (gift from grandma), the better your chances of getting it done.

I hope you get what you want.
