Looking Back, Moving Forward
LOOKING BACK, MOVING FORWARD:
Using the Past to Mould the Future
We are where we are because of the decisions and actions that were taken, with- and without our consent- a long time ago.
All that matters is that we make the most of the present by making the best decisions we can so we can secure the future we want.
We come from a place of loneliness, where everyone is on their own.
You've found a way to go and make things happen by yourself.
There have been awfully sad days when you felt like giving up the ghost. No one understood what you were passing through. But you did. You pushed through, and now you're out of the dark.
When you look back, all you see is hurt, loneliness, sadness, disappointment... And grace.
The past should not deter you from progressing. It should help you understand why you are where you are, and then help to predict and shape the future.
Moving forward, you should know that you are no longer alone.
Past experiences may caution you against the slightest decision that needs someone, but do not use that to cage yourself. You are no longer carrying your cross alone.
The journey is still far, but if you go together, you will eventually get there.
Look back and see how far you've come. Thank God for where you are, then look forward with hope and preparation.
Looking back to the past, observing the present, and looking to the future, one thing has been constant- the ever-present hand of God through all the struggle. It has brought you thus far, and I'm sure it will lead you to the end.
Do not let past experiences kill your joy. Be hopeful and stay strong.
Let them not hinder you from creating a great future, instead, use them to shape the future you wish to be in.
